Hi I have heard that you should not do a normal Defrag on the drive the Exchange is stored on. Is this true, if so what should you defrag the drive with is their any specail tip you could give a first timer Thanks
Hi Have a look at the following blog post from the Exchange Server Team: http://blogs.technet.com/exchange/archive/2004/10/25/247342.aspx The blog post basically recomends against, doing a file level defrag on a volume that contain either an information store/s or transaction log/s. If for any reason you need to do a file level defrag of a volume which contains either Information store/s, or transaction log/s then move these files to another physical volume, perform the file level defrag then move back. If you need to perform a defrag of the information store have a look at the following, MS articles: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=328804 http://support.microsoft.com/?id=192185 Regards
